2022 The Year of Intentional Change
I think I speak for a whole lot of people when I say that the last 18 months has been quite a circus. Last year this time, we were all so happy that 2020 was about to be over and lo and behold 2021 was 2020 2.0.
I don’t know about you but I am ready to set some positive intentions for my 2022 that are all about self care. I was talking to one of my clients the other day and we were talking about how women feel it is a luxury to provide ourselves with self care. That we should be doing all the things and then take care of ourselves. It is not until we are older and things settle down that we realize how much self care we did not do for ourselves and sometimes, it is hard to course correct.
Instead of New Years resolutions, let’s give our selves permission to be intentional about self care. We deserve to show up as our healthiest self. Keep in mind, healthier is not a size or a weight. If we commit to eating healthy, moving more and prioritize sleep we are on the track for a healthier lifestyle with translates into a healthier you.
One thing that I am seeing more of is that people are making anti-resolutions. According to Devin Price PHD, author of laziness does not exist “I recommend that people make anti-resolutions: What is something you want to stop doing this year?” “What’s an insecurity or obligation that you want to drop? Find ways to say no instead of taking on more.”
I find that absolutely brilliant. I believe in working from the back forward and what better way then tackling what you don’t want to end up with what you do?
Whether you start out 2022 with resolutions, anti-resolutions, intention, or totally reinvent your life, give your self permission to not be perfect, to make mistakes and course correct when needed and celebrate you small and big wins. Make this YOUR year!
Happy New Year!
