Wisdom and Intuition in Menopause
Menopause lets face it it’s a lot. We come into it with not much information besides hot flashes, mood swings, and weight gain. There is not guide book. No road map and in most cases our mother’s did not even talk to us about what they went through to get us prepared.
The average age that women hit menopause is 51. By 51, we have raised families or about to have an empty nest. We have had careers or a few of them, and we have lived half a life if we are lucky.
When we go through all the pauses (peri-menopause, menopause, and post-menopause) the journey we travel can make us a stronger person on the other side if we let it. After living more than half your lifetime, you have gathered so much wisdom and your intuition meter is off the charts but why do we let menopause doubt those two super powers?
By menopause, we have lived, made mistakes, learned from them, taught lessons to our children, nieces, and nephews and come out the other end wiser. If we allow the peri-menopause and menopause symptoms to shut us down, we have given up our power. Our power lies in the wisdom that we have gained and the intuition we have earned. We need to be in alignment with who we are now. Menopause has made you a new person. You may be someone who no longer takes any mess from anyone because you have earned that right. You may be someone who is now so comfortable in their skin where before your were not. You may be someone who now recognizes her worth and goes after what she wants. There are changes happening to your body during menopause but there are also psychological changes as well. You may notice things that you did not before. Things you let go before and some things that mattered before may no longer.
“The Change” is the correct term for this part of our lives and not just the physical. If we lean into the wisdom we have gathered all these years and rely on our intuition during peri-menopause and menopause, you will walk in to post-menopause the true new you that has lived, loved, and learned.
This week, I started training to be a menopause doula to add another layer to my menopause support coaching practice. I am excited to learn how to better support your as you go through menopause. Stay tuned….
